The event was attended by over eighty artists from the UWS and ISA (Intermountain Society of Artists). After being introduced I gave a brief description of my background and art experience and then I got right down to work. I alternated between painting on two full sheets of watercolor paper that had been prepared with one layer of gesso, textured with modeling paste and sealed with matt medium. While painting I talked about abstract painting techniques, the history of abstract painting, the importance of composition and color and answered questions from the audience. A video camera was provided which recorded the event and also projected my presentation on a large overhead screen for all to see. We took a small break after an hour and a half after which I returned to the easel and completed one of the paintings in the fifteen or twenty minutes I had left.
I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the enthusiasm of the audience. Many thanks to the Utrecht Art Supplies and to the Utah Watercolor Society for inviting me to present to their group.
I enjoyed the youtube video of you creating "Wash over me" Perhaps your next video you can also show how you add the textures to your canvas!
